5 Reasons Why Working from Home is Awesome

Working from home sounds like an amazing way to improve your work-life balance, but it’s not always easy to decide if it’s the right thing for you. In this post, we’ve compiled the top 5 reasons why working from home is awesome.

So why is working from home awesome?

Top 5 Reasons Why Working from Home is Awesome 1. You Can Make Your Schedule and Your Life Work for You When you work from home, you have total control over your work. The more you work from home, the better you get at working from home. You build your habits. You learn how to stay productive. Of course, some things are easier in a traditional office environment. Many of the tools that you’re probably familiar with (whether it’s Microsoft Office or Gmail) are less available when you’re working from home. But the trade-offs you make for working from home are all worth it. 2. Your Time is Yours If you’re a morning person, you could set your schedule so you’re not in front of your computer before 7am. If you’re an evening person, you could stay in for a couple of hours in the evening.

1. You can set your own hours

If you work in a traditional office environment, you’re probably always on-call. Work may have been cancelled, a deadline may have been missed, or you may have had to switch plans at the last minute. When you work from home, you can decide for yourself when and where you’ll work. You can set your own schedule and don’t have to accommodate anyone else. For example, I try to do as much of my work from home as possible, but I’m not in a position to work for 18 hours every day, 7 days a week. I have to take care of my family and my own work commitments. My work-from-home time is flexible, allowing me to take care of family stuff in the afternoons and evenings. I also work in the mornings when I’m fresh and can get a head-start on work without missing much.

2. You can wear whatever you want

Work from home can be pretty isolating, which can leave you feeling a bit stifled in your work. If you decide to break out of this pattern and bring some more color into your work attire, you’ll be surprised at how much your colleagues and friends will be glad to see you. 3. You’re not committed to a one-size-fits-all company culture You don’t have to work a set number of hours at a certain job to say that you’re committed to your job. Working from home allows you to work the hours that are best for you. 4. You’re able to take advantage of wellness programs We all know that stress affects us physically. By working from home, you can take advantage of those wellness programs that are available.

3. You don’t have to commute

If you live in a city, your daily commute can take up to an hour. That’s a huge chunk of your time, and it could be better spent elsewhere. If you’re willing to travel a bit, working from home means no commute. Plus, it’s a great way to make new connections in your city. 4. You don’t have to compromise your career. This is one of the reasons that many people choose to work from home, including my own parents. Work-life balance is one of the biggest challenges for working parents. Parents working from home have more time to spend with their kids. 5. You can be your own boss Working from home means you can do whatever you want. You’re free from all the corporate bureaucracy. You don’t have to answer to bosses. You have more time to spend on your own hobbies and projects.

4. You can adjust your work environment to suit you

It’s important to be able to make changes to your environment if your work conditions or environment doesn’t suit you. So if you’re getting out of breath walking to the toilet after finishing a stressful, but satisfying task, then it’s time to change your environment or your work station. Also, make sure you get plenty of fresh air, exercise and see as much daylight as possible! 5. You can set your own hours. Every person works differently and some people need regular and consistent breaks. If this is the case, then it’s important that you don’t cut yourself short and can’t handle being away from work for longer periods of time. However, it’s also very important that you take a balanced approach when working from home.

5. You don’t have to put up with a bad boss

Even though you’re the boss, you don’t have to put up with a bad boss. In fact, you might be able to work from home, yet work with a good boss. There’s nothing worse than having a boss who takes credit for you, says stupid things, and constantly criticizes your work. You don’t have to put up with that. And if your boss is really bad, you might be able to work from home but still be able to earn a good salary from your company. And if you don’t have a boss, you could put in a job ad and find a remote employee who you can pay like $100/hour. What do you do when your boss is incompetent and has zero ability to manage the work in-house? You “work from home”! 4. You can avoid commuting Whether you work in an office or in your home, you’ll almost always have to commute.
