Celebrate World Art Day with These Free Art Printables

Art is very important, it’s all around us. It’s impossible to live in this world without seeing an artist’s creation, or some aspect of art. It allows everybody to express themselves, art doesn’t stereotype or discriminate or hate, and without it, the world would be just plain and dull.

There are many special days that we celebrate every year.  We have Peace day, Women’s Day, Valentine’s day, Mother’s Day, Worker’s day and so on. Fun Print Activities and Free Easter Printables Inspired by Easter Traditions Around the World

Easter is always a festive occasion for everyone.  When we think of Easter some of the first things that come to mind are: Easter egg hunts, lots and lots of sweets, and the Easter Bunny.  It symbolizes long weekends and celebrations with friends and family.

Easter is also a very important Christian holiday because it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Although many believe that the Christians and Hebrews started the holiday, there are many things about Easter that are pagan in origin.  In fact, there are many different Easter traditions from all around the world.

We’ve put together some fun print activities and free Easter printables inspired by Easter traditions all over the world to help you plan your Easter celebration.  If you have kids at home, this would be a good opportunity to give them a quick lesson about the history of Easter!

Pin the Tail on the Bunny Printable

Many thanks to Amber of From ABCs to ACTs for this Pin the Tail on the Bunny Printable

Let’s give the donkey a little Easter holiday break by adding a fun twist to this popular children’s parlor game!

Easter wouldn’t be the same without the Easter Bunny (otherwise known as the “Easter hare” in Sweden, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).  Although there is no concrete explanation as to where and how the Easter Bunny was conceptualized and turned into a tradition, the thought of having a cute, fluffy bunny delivering Easter eggs filled with sweets and chocolate is too appealing that you wouldn’t really care about why it’s part of Easter, right?

Amber of FromABCstoACTs.com shares these wonderful free easter printables for Pin the Tail on the Bunny that will definitely keep your children entertained while you are preparing their Easter egg hunt.  It’s reusable and it offers a great color-matching activity for younger children.

Free Easter Bilby Printables

Our WorldWide ClassRoom was thoughtful enough to put together these Easter Bilby Printables

Not everyone is too keen about the Easter Bunny – particularly our friends in Australia.  No offense to the Easter Bunny, but his fellow rabbits are considered a pest in Australia due to the damage that they tend to cause the environment.

And thus – the Easter Bilby was born!  The bilby, also known as the rabbit bandicoot, is an endangered animal which also has soft, long ears.  Like the Easter Bunny, the Easter Bilby also gives out chocolates and sweets to children, so we can consider them to be on the same team.

This Easter Bilby Printable Pack by Our Worldwide Classroom will give you a great opportunity to introduce a new animal to your children and feed their interest in animals.

Free Printable Kisses Labels

Your Easter treats will be much sweeter with these free personalized kisses labels by Anders Ruff Printables Shop

Easter wouldn’t be the same without Easter sweets!  Easter is one of the favorite holidays of candy manufacturers, particularly in America where it is the second best-selling candy holiday after Halloween.

We can trace back the origins of Easter chocolate eggs as early as the 19th century.  Jelly beans are also another type of candy that is associated with Easter because they are shaped like an egg, which is associated with new life.  The National Confectioners Association reports that over 16 billion jelly beans are made in the USA each year in preparation for the Easter holiday.

Surprise your children and guests with an assortment of sweets packed in a nice Easter egg container.  You can personalize these sweets even further by printing out labels for individual candies such as this Free Printable Kisses Label from Anders Ruff Printables shop.

Source: SunnyDayFamily.com | Not sure about where to start? This Decluttering Checklist will surely point you in the right direction.

Laura of the Sunny Day Family recommends 75 things to Throw Away, which she put together in this FREE printable checklist.  The list is made up of things that are taking up space, crowding your closets, and adding to the disorganization of your household.

But not everything is meant to be thrown away.  The folks from Home Storage Solutions 101 recommend that you have 6 piles when decluttering your home:

  1. Keep in Room
  2. Put Away in Another Room
  3. Donate or Give Away
  4. Sell
  5. Trash
  6. Recycle or Repurpose

This Simple Declutter Formula is something that you should do in each room to make sure that you have everything covered by the end of your decluttering activities.

Kids Printable Cleaning Checklist

Many adults struggle with “adulting”, because they grew up without much exposure to household chores.  Teach your kids to get organized while they are young by including them in your cleaning activities.

Most parents don’t engage their kids with any cleaning activity, because they’re afraid that it will only start an argument or, for younger kids, it may lengthen the cleaning process and you just want to get it over and done with as soon as possible.

Katie Berry of House Wife How-To’s says that “A cleaning checklist for kids rooms empowers your children to take responsibility for their space while helping them learn important life skills.”  She shares that most of the headaches that arose from asking her kids to clean their room were simply because they didn’t know how to do it right.  She shares this free printable cleaning checklist on her blog to help parents in making cleaning a fun activity for everyone!

Spring Cleaning Jobs for Kids courtesy of Jacquie Fisher from KCEdventures.com

Jacquie Fisher also believes that kids NEED to learn how to do age-appropriate chores while they grow up.  She recommends giving the kids their own cleaning tools (kid size, of course!) to help them get enthusiastic about their chores.  She shares this free printable checklist with age-appropriate spring cleaning jobs that kids can help with.

Engage Your Husband in All the Spring Cleaning Fun

Ladies, it’s time to face the facts (if you haven’t realized this already) that your husbands will not be as excited with spring cleaning as you are.  The good news is that there are a lot of activities that they can help out with, which will make spring cleaning fun for them as well.

The tool shed or garage is your husbands’ domain.  So, it’s important to tell them about what you’re planning to do to re-organize it before you start doing anything.  We recommend that you appeal to the handyman in your husband and show them these 21 Brilliant Garage Organizing Ideas by the LighterSide of Real Estate.  Remember – it’s a partnership, so plan out your organizing activity together to make it fun for the two of you.

In our previous blog post, Organize Your Life this 2017 with these FREE printables, we talked about making room in your life for all the blessings and opportunities that you want to receive this 2017.  If you haven’t had the chance to do so, then spring time is the perfect opportunity for you to conduct a thorough cleaning of your home or office.

Let’s start with your trust old printer

It can be difficult to find the perfect spot to store your printer.  It’s big and bulky, so it usually stands out and ends up being an eyesore in your home or office layout.

But finding the right place for your printer isn’t just a matter of aesthetics.  Proper printer storage is one way of taking care of your printer, so it can continue to run on optimal performance.  This will also help you save on repair or replacement costs in the future.

Our team has put together these cool printer storage ideas that can help you protect your printing device, while keeping your home or office space stylish and tidy.

Wicker Basket Hidden Printer Storage

This cool printer storage idea from DIY Playbook will allow you to hide your printer in a way that it blends in your room or office design.

You can store your printer in a wicker basket to keep it safe from dirt and other contaminants, while allowing it to fit into your furniture and overall room design.

Cut a window for the area where the paper comes out, so you won’t need to worry about taking it out of the box whenever you need to use your printer.  DIY Playbook has a set of instructions to help you in completing this cool storage idea for your printer.

Printer Rolling Cart

Turn old furniture into your very own printer rolling cart with these instructions from DIYProjects.com

Who says that you need to keep your printer in just one place?  This neat printer storage idea allows you to move your printer wherever it is needed for easier access and improve your productivity.

The lower layers of the cart can easily hold other print supplies, such as paper, paper clips and folders for quick access.  This will allow you to move your printer from the office to your living area or wherever you and your children are working on your art activities.

You don’t even have to buy a new cart to make this happen. This neat idea from DIY projects allows you to convert old furniture – such as a bedside table – into your very own printer rolling cart.  You can also use kitchen serving trolleys and it will produce the same results.

Hidden Printer Cabinet Crate

Safely store your printer in these re-used wooden crates through this creative idea from TheRefurbishedHome.com

We love this printer storage idea because it’s DIY and it allows you to recycle simple materials.  This makes it cost-efficient and rather genius, really!

These custom printer cabinet crates from TheRefurbishedHome.com will allow you to neatly hide away your printer and keep it mobile by adding rollers at the bottom.  It also adds a bit of a shabby chic feel to any room or office, don’t you think?

There are so many other printer storage ideas that have been shared with us by our users and which we have found online, but we had to limit this blog post to our 3 favorite storage ideas for now.  Follow us on Pinterest for more cool printer storage ideas.

But don’t limit your imagination and creativity with these ideas alone.  Whatever you do, just have fun with it and don’t be afraid to add your personal touch. It’s always nice to keep things fresh and try something new.  And while you’re at it, invite a few friends to come over to help and you can do the same for them, too! Now, spring up from that bed and get started! Happy spring cleaning!

5 Mardi Gras Printables To Spice Up Any Celebration

Mardi Gras is a celebratory tradition that is practiced in many places.  The season varies with each city. For some like Louisiana and New Orleans, the whole celebration stretches from the 12th day of Christmas until the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.  While some cities start celebrating on New Year’s Eve, some just celebrate on the day itself and some practice it three days before lent.

To put it simply, Mardi Gras is a French word that means “Fat Tuesday”.  This is because in the olden times, the night before lent is the last night of eating rich and fatty foods and come Ash Wednesday, the fasting begins.

This night traditionally means that everybody gets to “get fat”, eat their hearts out and just forget who they are and their social status, thus the masks.  Masks and Mardi Gras cannot go without each other.  So, what better way to celebrate it than to throw a party and make use of these amazing Mardi Gras printable party items.

Share Your Love for Mother Nature through these Sustainable Printing Tips

In a constant world of change, we strive to adapt to what we need. Manufacturers and big companies, even starting companies always come up with products and ideas to make life easier.  While this adds convenience to our ever day lives, we all know that through these “upgrades” come at a high cost to mother nature.

The most appropriate example is our printing breakthroughs. We become content with the convenience that they bring that we constantly forget to go green.

Presently, printing companies are making it a point to go green. Green printing technology is now on the rise. Here are just a few of the sustainable printing breakthroughs that we have experienced over the past years:

  • Green inks and papers
These are inks and papers that are made with non-hazardous and mother nature-friendly materials.
  • Printers that are energy efficient – These printers use less energy and emits lesser carbon footprints.
  • Techniques that are carbon neutral – Even green inks, papers and printers still have carbon footprints, these techniques are meant to neutralize and lessen it.

Source: Flickr/innovate360 | There are many ways that you can practice sustainable printing! Start by recycling your ink and toner cartridges.

These companies have done their parts, now it’s our turn.  Ask yourself, what can you do to help mother nature?

Here are some sustainable printing tips that can get you started:

  1. Ask if you need to print
Before printing, ask yourself whether what you are printing really needs to be printed.  Can it just be sent electronically to people who needs to see it? If so, don’t print it anymore.
  1. Maximize pages
If you are printing a long document, you don’t have to print the document as it is, especially if you are just going to review the content. You can print in small readable fonts, lessen the margins and make sure you are maximizing the page.
  1. Use two sides
If you are only printing a draft version, you can use double side printing, or you can print on the back side of the past drafts you printed.  This will easily cut your paper use in half.
  1. Print in draft mode
Again, if this is just a draft, you can select “draft mode” or “fast draft” in your printer, this will use less ink and will print faster.
  1. Save paper
Once you print anything, and the back part of the paper is not yet used, save it!

Stack all the “once used” papers. When you need to print another draft, you can use these papers instead of new ones.

To thank you for your continuous support for us, we want to #SharetheLove by giving 2 lucky winners a $100 discount on any InkTonerStore purchase.

We all need to protect mother nature because it is us who benefits from the resources and beauty we get from her. Let’s all do our part and step up to show more love for mother nature.

3 Reasons Why You Should Print Photos in the Digital Age

Why print photos?  Do people still print photos?  No one prints photos anymore.

These are some of the recommended search terms that came up on Google while I was doing my research on this topic.  For someone who grew up in the age of analog photography, printing pictures is not at all uncommon to me.  In fact, it is something that I think that more people should do.  But we want to give you, our readers, an objective perspective on the topic of printing pictures in the digital age.

Source: Google Images | Gone are the days of good old analog photography, when you needed to keep several rolls of film on standby just to capture the perfect photo.

Here are 3 reasons why you should print your pictures to preserve them:

The Threat of Digital Data Loss

A large majority of our pictures and files that we have are now stored in computers or uploaded unto the cloud.  Facebook, Instagram, and many other applications have made it very simple to take a picture from our mobile devices which will be uploaded instantly on their platform.  The ease by which pictures are taken, stored and shared have made us rely heavily on these platforms to preserve our precious memories.

Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the internet, advised internet users to begin preserving digital data, such as photographs, or risk losing them forever.  “We stand to lose a lot of our history. If you think about the quantity of documentation from our daily lives which is captured in digital form, like our interactions by email, people’s tweets, all of the World Wide Web, then if you wanted to see what was on the web in 1994 you’d have trouble doing that. A lot of the stuff disappears,” he warned.

The internet is not the only problem.  Computers and hard drives crash all the time.  Smart phones and tablets get lost or destroyed.  “Digital files can never be as secure as something you can hold,” shares one user on Quora.

Lost to the Digital Graveyard

I came across several blogs and articles that talked about how the pictures get buried in the digital graveyard.  The words “buried” and “digital graveyard” were a resounding buzz word in these articles that date back to 2013.

It’s so easy to take and store photos these days that we can generate hundreds of pictures in one day alone.  But what happens after?  What happens after you’ve taken the picture?  Do you upload them to a social media platform?  Do you keep them locked away in your hard drive?  Will you look at those pictures again after a month?

To be perfectly honest, I have so many pictures stored in my computer that I haven’t looked at for a long time.  And even if I do want to look through them, there are now thousands of them so just the thought of going through all those photos is already quite exhausting.

In the days of photographic film, you had to choose the perfect shot otherwise you’d lose that moment forever.  You would invest a lot of care and thought for each photograph, because you had a limited amount of film.  Since it’s now so easy to take pictures, even the most random and irrelevant things get photographed.  Can you just imagine printing a roll of film filled with just your selfies and laying those pictures out on a photo album?  These “fluff” pictures take up a lot of your space and bury the most important pictures in your digital vault.  And the reality is that you never get to look at them anymore.

Print has an “actual” presence

Printing gives life to your pictures.  It’s hard to ignore a picture when it’s mounted on your wall or if it’s in a frame at your desk.  The memory stored in the picture adds character to wherever you put it, which is why many DIY home design articles include personalizing your home by framing your pictures and displaying them in different rooms.

Printed photos are inspiring.  In one of our recent blog posts, we talked about printing inspirational quotes and displaying them in areas of your home where it’s easy to view to give you a daily dose of inspiration.  Photographs have the same – if not better – effect.  Seeing the smiles on the faces of loved ones or having a visual reminder of that one specific memory is heartwarming and inspiring.

Printing Tips to Increase Your Productivity

It’s been 17 days since the start of the new year.  We’re sure that you’re still filled with energy and eager to fulfill all your new year’s goals and plans.  We can’t blame you.  We’re as excited about 2017 as you are!

In our previous blog posts, we featured free printables that would help you organize your life and motivate you throughout 2017.  Now, we’ll focus on helping you increase productivity at home or work by improving the efficiency through these printing tips.

Printing Productivity

If you have a long list of goals that you want to achieve for yourself, then, you need to start focusing on how much effort you are exerting on each task or endeavor.  That’s what productivity is all about.  If you are spending too long on a task or goal and you’re not delivering the ideal output for a certain amount of time, then, you need to stop and rethink your actions.

Your productivity is usually affected by the little details that you don’t pay too much attention to like the amount of ink on your printer or if you have enough paper.  Although these may seem like simple problems, these scenarios will still eat up your time and your ability to deliver results.

Reducing small time-consuming situations such as these, which could be easily avoided through proper planning, will help in improving your overall efficiency and productivity.

Monitor Your Printing Consumption

If you are restocking for your home, you need to consider how much print supplies you are consuming and measure the lifecycle of each of these products.  Track your printer usage by maintaining a logbook or list of documents that you have printed.  Make sure to take note of:

  • The number of pages
  • Type of paper used
  • Color or black and white

Of course, if you want to be obsessive compulsive about it, you could also track the ink levels after you are done printing.  If there is more than one person using the printer, such as in an office setting, you could install a printer monitor or log software that would allow you to do this more efficiently.  But if you’re just monitoring it for home use, a simple sheet of paper would do.

Location, Location, Location.

It is not just about aesthetics.  It’s important to consider where your printer is positioned in your home since there are certain environmental factors that can greatly affect its performance.  You also need to consider putting it in an area where you can easily access it when you’re working, or where the kids can easily print out their schoolwork.  The right printer set-up can do wonders in improving your efficiency with whatever it is that you’re doing, thereby making things get done faster and with just the right effort.

Stock Up on Paper

If you constantly use your printer for work, schoolwork or print activities, then, you should have an awareness of the status of your print supplies.  After all, it’s not difficult to see if your printer ink is running low or if you don’t have enough paper stocked up at home.

Paper is a number one must-have at home.  Make sure that you have basic printing paper, such as legal and letter size bond paper.  It’s always more cost-efficient to buy a ream of paper.  It’s practical to buy several reams of paper, which is good for several months.  After all, paper doesn’t have an expiration date so it doesn’t hurt to stock up.

If you’re thinking, “But I don’t need so much paper now.”  Think of it this way.  Would you really want to wait until it completely runs out before you stock up?  Running to the store unplanned will eat up your time and money. You’ll be spending on gas just to run to the store for this one thing, which you could have prepared for if you had only purchased enough.  Having to rush to the store in the middle of work is also counter-productive and it will throw you off your workflow.

Invest in the Right Ink

It’s not just about buying an ink or toner cartridge for your printer.  You need to make sure that you are buying the right one for your printer!  Here are 5 Tips to in Buying Printing Ink Cartridges to guide you on what you need to consider before making an ink or toner purchase.  Getting it right the first time will save you a lot of time and effort in the future, so educate yourself on what your printer really needs to ensure that it’s running on optimal performance.

Efficiency is a Lifestyle

Your productivity significantly affects your work and life in ways that you just can’t fathom.  If you are thinking that efficient printing practices will give you very minimal results in improving your overall productivity – you’re wrong!

Being efficient is a habit that you need in every aspect of life.  If you can be efficient at a small activity such as printing, this will ripple out to other small activities that you don’t really pay much attention to.  And being efficient in many small activities will help you in being more efficient on a larger scale.
